W.A.L. how to screen print.
Room 8 students were lucky to have visiting teacher Mrs Beth Berkahn in class on Monday and Tuesday. Our ultimate goal was to make screen printed t-shirts, tea towels and pillowslips, however, on the way, we discovered there were a plethora of learning experiences to be had. The photographs show the learning journey from ideas, sketching, planning, cutting, more cutting and still more cutting! ROCKERS values were crucial to our success and the results are stunning. See below for the 'negative image' paper prints. Thank you to Georgia, Kerry and Terri who were our helpers.
Our first set of prints were designed to represent New Zealand. Students identified koru and pounamu patterns, silver ferns, kiwis, jandals, maps and flags as Kiwiana symbols. Tino pai e rawa Deltora Quest, Mrs Gibbs is proud of you all :)
Welcome to the Pounamu Team blog! The Pounamu Team is made up of Rooms 2, 4, 7 and 8 from Ruahine School near Dannevirke, NZ. We will use this blog to share our 2015 learning journey with you.
