Week 7 in the Rock Stars

Week 7

This week in the Rock Stars we have been learning an efficient ways to solve money (coins) problems. For example if $1 weigh 8gms each, how many coins will I have if there are 1 kilogram of $1 coins? How much money will I have?
Most of us were struggling but now all of us get the idea, after sharing our thinking.

Some of us decided a table would be a good way to solve this problem:
$1 Coins
Weight 8gms each
Total weight
1
8
8
2
8
16
3
8
24
4
8
32
5
8
40
Some of us decided that if we knew that 10coins = 80gms, we could use that in a table.
Some of know that 7 x 8 = 56, so we used knowing how to multiply by 10s and 100s to help us.
Some of us asked what x 8 might = 1000 and made an estimate to start.
Some of us asked what is 1000 divided by 8.
What would you do?

This week in room 2 we have been doing fitness . We get to choose 9 laps around the field or doing a ladder of exercises. For example 10 Turkisk Get Ups, 20 Burpees, 30 Sit ups, 40 Squat Jumps, 50 Star Jumps, then down, 40 Walking Lunges, 30 Mountain Climbers, 20 Push Ups, 10 mins of different holds, eg, wall sit, and planking. We are getting fit and really challenging ourselves.

Room 2 have been making Christmas baskets made out of flax. We found out lots about Maori protocols and using our Rockers values along the way. Here are some photos.
